Addiction Counselor and Interventionist
Herbert is dually certified, carrying credentials with the United States
Navy as an addiction counselor advanced level, and certified clinical
supervisor. As an active counselor in North Carolina, Herbert carries
credentials as a substance abuse counselor and clinical supervisor.
Additionally, Herbert is a certified hypnotherapist and master hypnotist;
believes education should be progressive, just as the disease itself.
Herbert, Continues his education to better serve those in need.
Herbert has been involved professionally and personally for over 18 years
serving those who suffer with substance abuse problems. Herbert gained
global recognition as an internationally certified addiction counselor, and
educator in the field of addiction while serving in the United States Marine
Corps, and as a private therapist, additionally Herbert has worked as the
primary counselor and adviser for drug court, superior court judges and
district attorneys; were he continued to see the devastation of addiction
on families. Herbert understands through personal and professional
experience; addiction affects not only the addict but the families that love
them.
His professional career encompasses outpatient treatment, intensive
outpatient treatment, residential treatment and long-term residential
treatment. Herbert believes everyone has a chance for recovery; he has
dedicated his life to ensure someone will always be there to answer the
phone when a family calls for help.
As a master trainer specialist Herbert has helped train over 500 addiction
counselors worldwide, instilling in his students the disease of addiction
knows no boundaries. As a clinical supervisor Herbert is credited with
designing and implementing an educational recovery model, while working with
the largest nonprofit homeless population, in Southern California
encompassing over 150 residents, resulting in state recognition and
accreditation for being a center of excellence in recovery.
Herbert's compassion, care and understanding of how addiction effects
those we love comes from personal experience, which he is able to draw on,
enhancing his communication ability with those that suffer like none other.
Passion and empathy are wonderful attributes, when combined with 18 years of
addiction experience and education they become a powerful intervention tool.
