Jeffrey Seltzer has been working in the field of recovery for 8 years. Jeffrey has his degree in behavioral science with an emphasis on alcohol and other drug studies, and his certification in AODS from city college of San Diego. He is a member of California’s association of Alcohol and other drug Educators (CAADE) and his passions lie in helping others. He began his career in 1999 working in the south bay area of San Diego with a tough population of youth that were all court ordered to treatment Jeffrey states “all they really needed was some direction and some tough love” he worked there for 3 years.

Jeffrey found his next home for the past 5 years at SCRIPPS hospital in La Jolla California working in a 28-day residential treatment program and detox unit. At SCRIPPS Jeffrey works mainly with a population of young adults who he says “just need to know they still have potential”. He also works with the families of the addicts and alcoholics educating them on addiction, enabling, and co-dependency. Jeffrey believes that the family who is also caught up in the grips of addiction need to learn how to heal and support the wellness of their loved one.

Jeffrey has been in recovery since 1997 and knows on a personal level exactly how damaging addiction can be to the family unit, as he is a single father of a beautiful 16-year-old daughter. He says “without my recovery and all the hard work to change my life, my daughter wouldn’t have a dad today.”

Jeffrey is continually searching for more and more avenues of education on addiction, in order to help addicts and their families back on the road to a happy healthy life. Currently he is working towards a degree in nursing and just received his associates in biology.
